Big Creek Greenway

Big Creek Greenway- Forsyth County

If you’re looking for a continuous nature path to walk, bike, or run, the Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County is exactly the place for you! The Big Creek Greenway is a 12-foot wide concrete and boardwalk path that covers 16 miles from the southernmost end of the county in Alpharetta and up into the Sawnee Mountain Preserve. The Greenway has trailheads at The Halcyon, Union Hill, Fowler Park, Bethelview Road, and Sawnee Mountain Preserve.

Big Creek Greenway- Fulton County

The Big Creek Greenway also extends into Fulton County through Alpharetta and Roswell to cover an additional 9 miles of 12-foot wide paved pathway. Alpharetta was designated as a Bike Friendly Community by The League of American Cyclists in 2018; the Greenway is one of the best ways to experience the community!

Along the Greenway, you can find educational signs that give information about local flora and fauna that are along the Greenway and QR codes with interactive maps.

The pathways are well-maintained and can be easily navigated on foot or with strollers, bikes, or mobility aids! There’s plenty of tree coverage along the Greenway, therefore there are shaded spots to take a break from the hot Georgia sun.

Pets are welcome!

Please note that while the Greenway covers about 25 miles, sections may be disconnected between counties and in various sections for renovations. Currently, the trail from the Bethelview Trailhead through mile marker 10.3 south of Kelly Mill is closed for renovation and cannot be accessed. Be sure to check out the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Big Creek Greenway website for status updates.
