MEET YOUR COACH:
Genesis Santiago
Growing up in the small town of Hinesville, Georgia, my relationship with fitness was limited to four months of marching band a year. Beyond that, movement felt like a chore I wasn’t willing to add to my "to-do" list. Coming from a low-income household, we ate what was cheap and tasted good, and as I got older, I continued to choose junk food and naps over health and activity.
My wake-up call came at a routine annual check-up. Already managing PCOS, my doctor informed me I was now pre-diabetic with rising cholesterol. The thought of adding more chronic conditions to my daily life was terrifying. Initially, my only goal was to lose weight to avoid complications, but as the pounds dropped, something unexpected happened: my mood lifted, my energy soared, and my depression became more manageable.
What started as a medical necessity soon turned into a passion for discovery. I went from avoiding movement to embracing it in every form: from the focus of rock climbing and the endurance of running to the grace of ice skating and, eventually, the empowering strength of weightlifting.
This transformation sparked a new vow: to help others find that same confidence and self-love through movement. With a B.S. in Biology and a NASM Personal Training certification, I combine my scientific understanding of anatomy and physiology with the high-energy community spirit I learned as an instructor and personal trainer at Crunch Fitness. My mission is to provide guidance for those who feel they’ve given up on themselves or simply don’t know where to start. Whether you have limited equipment or limited time, I’m here to show you that fitness isn't a chore; it’s the best way to take care of the person you love most: yourself.
